Hi I’m the Petsman, bringing you the animal encounters experience. We have a great selection of animals reptiles insects which we bring to schools, care homes, children’s parties, beaver’s, cubs, brownies clubs and local events etc.
We can cater for most places. Some of the animals from our collection are: Barney the barn owl, Nibbles the guinea pig, Piddles the rabbit, Woody the wood owl and new addition Berney the female barn owl. All the animals are well looked after and cared for.
So with Animal Encounters we offer a great handling/touching animal experience while learning some great facts about them. We run sessions that usually last an hour but we are happy to stay longer if required. The animals that I bring will depend on the length of time your session is booked for.

I was lucky enough to have pets from a young age. Started with rabbits then frogs and toads. I knew from back then I wanted animals in my life. As I got older, I had the opportunity to own many animals including fish. When I moved into my own property is when everything changed.
I had a big collection of different species, frogs, toads, birds, fish, stick insects it was like a mini zoo and friends and neighbours would come into see them. Then I was lucky enough to get a job as a pet shop manager, it was amazing, I had a free hand to order what I wanted. Back in those days you could get anything, so I had reptile’s tarantulas, toucan’s, parrots, puffer fish, mynah bird, anything really. But like all great things in life, it came to an end, when the land was sold for a carpark. But that didn’t stop me having pets.
So, I moved again into a great property with a garden. But there was still something missing, Owls. So now I have four. Then things changed again I lost my job due to long term ill health issues. But I still had my animals, and with them they helped, with keeping me company, focusing my mind, on them not my health issues and keeping me active.
While looking for a job I decided I wanted out of retail management and wanted something different. I had this great idea; I have my animals and it’s about time they earned their keep and went out to work as well lol. I wanted people to share in the joy of having animals, animals that they may never be able to have or get a chance to see, and it would also give me a chance to share the passion I have keeping them all. So, this is where I am today, working with my pets.
ANIMAL ECOUNTERS with THE PETSMAN was formed.
So now we all go out to children’s party’s, care homes, schools, and local events. Its great seeing the amazement on the children’s faces when an owl or a five-foot snake appears. I love talking about the animals, care and conservation. The animals love it to.
